    This pine cone is still in its original matrix of Rhyolite, from Bir Anzarane, Western Sahara (Morocco). The cone dates from the Eocene (54 to 37 million years ago).
    The cone, which contains seeds, measures 1.88 inches and 0.75 inches wide. The cone with matrix measures 1.88 inches long, 1.99 inches wide and 1.0 inches high.
