When Belle's scatterbrained inventor father, Maurice, gets lost, Belle finds the Beast holding him captive and offers to take his place. Despite an awkward beginning, Belle and the Beast gradually become friends, dancing away the night in his castle's opulent ballroom. Soon, the Beast knows he loves her. Belle returns his love when she realizes his true compassionate nature, and when she professes her love, at last, the spell is broken -- the Beast turns into a Prince and all the enchanted objects become human again.
