Eagle Creek Formation Petrified Wood ~ Lot of 3 Pieces ~ 3 lbs 11.7 oz

Description

This is a lot of 3 pieces of petrified wood from the Eagle Creek Formation in the Pacific Northwest. They were gathered in the same general area, so they have the same basic characteristics, plus they appear to have been close in age, according to the visible growth rings, at the time of the disturbance, which occurred between 34 - 28 MYA.
The largest piece measures approximately 6” long x 2” wide. It has very visible growth rings and, in a handful of places, the petrifying process has not yet been completed, as evidenced by the a mixture of quartz crystals and sand grains embedded in the wood and by the amount of black carbon material present. This piece does stand on its own.
The second largest piece measures approximately 6” x 1”, and the third piece measures approximately 6 1/2” long x 1/2” wide. On top of this piece is a partial leaf fossil and, on the bottom, is a light outline of another plant fossil.
Overall, these are very nice, interesting pieces.
